What is IELTS JET?
IELTS JET is a website provides IELTS test questions and exam tips for
free. Students can easily take the IELTS mock tests on the website to
improve their band scores effectively within a short time through our
modern e-learning platform. Moreover, we have developed an ecosystem
centred around transnational education, online learning, and study
abroad to assist students in the pursuit of international education.

Designing IELTS JET: From Research to Prototype
IELTS JET was a project built from scratch, so I must first identify
user needs and problems through research, then shape the product's
direction by ideating, creating conceptual designs, testing
prototypes.
First of all my mission was getting to know the target users so I started by step one which is research. Conducting user interviews and gathered data from surveys, I got what I wanted but research never ends, Next, I analysed gathered information and categories them to different segments. Creating user journey map helped me to understand users and know their pain points. I brainstormed and sketched and thought of features that our competitor has not think of. I shared low fidelity wireframes as well. At the end, you can check out the visual design and prototype.

Streamlining User Research for Efficient IELTS Jet Development
Efficiency and reliability were paramount in our quest to establish a
user research process that seamlessly integrated with the development
of IELTS Jet. Minimizing the time between research initiation and MVP
design was a key objective. As a result, I condensed the research
process into three succinct stages, ensuring rapid progress while
upholding the integrity of our findings. what I did was user
interview, survey and competitive analyse. By gathered result I ended
up reaching to these stages were as
follows:
follows:
- Defining user segmentation
- Mapping User journey
- Designing Wireframes
1. User Segmentation for a Customized and User-Focused IELTS JET
Design
The goal of user segmentation was to better understand the diverse
needs of the target audience and create a design that effectively
addresses them. By segmenting users based on shared characteristics
such as (demographics, learning goals, time spent on the task and
their progress metrics), I was able to identify distinct user groups
and their specific requirements. This approach allowed me to
prioritize design decisions and create a more customized and
user-focused experience, ensuring that each segment's needs were met.
These users are new to IELTS and unfamiliar with the test
format. They make up the largest segment, indicating a
significant number of users are at the initial stage of their
IELTS preparation journey.
This segment comprises users who have some experience with IELTS
and need to improve specific sections. This is the largest
segment, showing a common need for focused improvement.
Users in this segment are familiar with IELTS and are aiming for
high scores. This segment shows a significant portion of users
striving for top performance.
These users require flexible study schedules and focus on
specific skills like writing and speaking. This segment reflects
a need for tailored, flexible learning solutions.
As you see on the chart there are 4 different groups:
2. Mapping the User Journey: Understanding and Enhancing the IELTS JET
Experience
Reaching user segmentation, my next step was to meticulously map the
customer journey. My goal was to understand how users interact with
the website at different stages of their journey, from initial
discovery to achieving their goals. To achieve this, I created a user
journey map, outlining the steps, touchpoints, and emotions users
experience during their interaction. As a result, I was able to
identify pain points and opportunities for improvement, which helped
me design a more seamless and intuitive experience for users. To
facilitate this comprehensive process, I dedicated two full-day
sessions to this crucial exercise. On the first day, I delved into
each step of the user journey, collectively deciding on the sequence
and intricacies of the experience. Building upon this foundation, the
second day focused on identifying and defining the needs, problems,
and concerns faced by users at each juncture of the journey.
This collaborative approach allowed us to leverage diverse perspectives, ensuring a holistic and nuanced understanding of the user experience. By thoughtfully analysing and addressing user needs throughout the journey, I was better equipped to shape IELTS JET into a platform that catered seamlessly to the aspirations and challenges of all kind of Ielts candidates.

3. Designing Wireframes for IELTS JET: Prioritizing User Needs and
Simplicity
Continuing with the development process, the third step involved
creating wireframes for the IELTS Jet website, guided by the user
journey map. During this phase, my primary objective was to prioritize
the critical needs of users while eliminating any unnecessary features
or complexities.
By aligning the wireframe design with the user journey, I aimed to create an intuitive and streamlined experience that directly addressed users' core requirements. Striving for simplicity and efficiency, I meticulously curated the wireframes to ensure that each element served a purpose and contributed directly to enhancing the user experience.
Through this focused approach, I sought to optimize the website's functionality, providing users with a seamless interface that catered precisely to their essential needs.

Leveraging Pre-made UI Library and Iterative Refinement
Following a collaborative evaluation of the wireframes with both the
teachers and users, I embarked on the final design phase of the IELTS
JET. To expedite the process without compromising quality, I opted to
utilize a pre-made UI library, capitalizing on its existing components
and design elements.
By leveraging the pre-made library, I could accelerate the design process while ensuring consistency and cohesiveness across the application's interface. This approach allowed me to focus on refining the visual aesthetics and user interactions, enhancing the overall user experience.
To ensure the designs met the highest standards and address any potential usability concerns, I decided to create a prototype for re-evaluation. This prototype would serve as a tangible representation of the final product, enabling thorough testing and validation before proceeding to the development stage.
Through this iterative refinement process, I aimed to achieve a polished and user-friendly design that would resonate with our target audience while expediting the overall development timeline.

Embracing Material Design for Consistency and Familiarity
Given that the MVP version of IELTS Jet was exclusively tailored for
the Android platform, I opted to align its design with the widely
recognized and user-friendly material design system.
By embracing material design principles, I ensured that IELTS JET's visual elements, interactions, and overall aesthetics adhered to the native Android experience. This approach not only provided users with a sense of familiarity but also facilitated seamless integration with the Android ecosystem.

Creating a User-Centric Experience for IELTS JET
During the final design phase of IELTS JET, I maintained a conscious
effort to ensure that the design and visual elements did not overpower
the content. Placing emphasis on content visibility and accessibility,
I used vibrant and bright color palette to draw attention to
interactive elements.
By striking this balance between design and content, I aimed to create a user-centric experience where users could effortlessly engage with the core essence of IELTS JEt. This approach optimized usability and ensured that the design elements complemented and enhanced the overall user experience rather than overshadowing the valuable content available on the platform.

Testing and the Unforeseen Halt of IELTS JET's Development
In the concluding stage of developing the MVP product, I diligently
constructed a prototype using Figma. This prototype served as a
valuable tool for conducting user tests and reassessing the overall
user experience's quality. Regrettably, shortly before the testing
phase, unforeseen circumstances unfolded, leading to the disbandment
of our team and, ultimately, the halt of IELTS JET's progress before
entering the development stage.
A Key Milestone in My Product Design Journey
IELTS Jet was one of the projects I worked on, marking a significant
step in my professional journey. Being involved in this project
allowed me to gain valuable insights into product development, tackle
unique challenges, and enhance my skills as a product designer. The
experience was instrumental in shaping my approach to solving problems
and delivering user-centric solutions.
